Eligibility Requirements for Medicaid

Medicaid covers specific groups, regardless of income.  You must be either a United States citizen or a lawfully admitted immigrant to qualify for Medicaid coverage.  Only people who meet one of the following classifications can qualify for Medicaid:

• Pregnant
• Disabled
• 65 years or older
• Parent of a minor
• Legal guardian of a minor
• Independent teenager

Income eligibility is also a major factor for assistance under Medicaid.  Eligibility is based on the federal poverty line, which is currently $11,490 for an individual and $19,530 for a family of three.  If you meet the requirements above, our firm can help you pursue benefits through this program.  But this does not mean you have to be under the poverty line in order to become qualified for federal benefits.  You may become eligible for benefits even if you have more than these limits with proper planning.
